દુર્ગા અષ્ટમી
Durga Ashtami is Aso Shukla Atham, the eighth night, sacred to Mahagauri. In Gujarat this is often the strict fast of Navratri and the night of a communal havan. Garba still happens. The fast and the dance are not enemies.
દુર્ગા અષ્ટમી આસો સુદ આઠમ છે, આઠમી રાત્રિ, મહાગૌરીની. ગુજરાતમાં આ ઘણી વાર નવરાત્રિનો કડક ઉપવાસ અને સામૂહિક હવનની રાત્રિ છે. ગરબો ચાલુ રહે છે. ઉપવાસ અને નૃત્ય વિરોધી નથી.
દુર્ગા અષ્ટમી
The eighth night, Mahagauri. A fast is widely kept. Havan in the evening if your neighbourhood does one.આઠમી રાત્રિ, મહાગૌરી. ઉપવાસ વ્યાપક છે. વિસ્તારમાં હવન હોય તો સાંજે જાઓ.
મહા નવમી
The ninth night, Siddhidatri. A quieter aarti. Dussehra is tomorrow morning.નવમી રાત્રિ, સિદ્ધિદાત્રી. શાંત આરતી. દશેરા કાલે સવારે છે.
દશેરા
Vijaya Dashami. In the morning, bless the tools you work with. The garba season is over.વિજયા દશમી. સવારે જેનાથી કામ કરો તેને આશીર્વાદો. ગરબાની ઋતુ પૂરી.
પાપાંકુશા એકાદશી
Aso's bright-fortnight fast, during Navratri season. No grain today.આસો સુદની એકાદશી, નવરાત્રિની ઋતુમાં. આજે અનાજ નહીં.
સુદ પ્રદોષ
A Shiva fast broken at twilight. Pour water, offer a bel leaf if you have one, then eat.સંધ્યાએ પૂરો થતો શિવનો ઉપવાસ. જળ રેડો, હોય તો બિલીપત્ર ધરાવો, પછી ખાઓ.
શરદ પૂર્ણિમા
The full moon after Navratri. Set milk in the moonlight, then drink it. A fast until evening is common.નવરાત્રિ પછીની પૂનમ. દૂધ ચાંદનીમાં મૂકો, પછી પીઓ. સાંજ સુધીનો ઉપવાસ સામાન્ય છે.
